Located a 5-minute walk from Otaru Station and the canal, Cafe COTARU in the heart of the city serves homemade soft-serve ice cream made with farm-fresh milk.
Alongside our homemade soup curry, this is another popular menu item, allowing you to easily enjoy the flavors of Otaru, Hokkaido.



We use pasteurized milk from Kikuchi Farm in Hiroo Town, Hokkaido.

By sterilizing the milk with reduced heat, the natural sweetness and richness of the milk are preserved.
We've kept additives to a minimum, resulting in a clean, refreshing aftertaste.
It features a smooth texture that melts in your mouth and a rich flavor. In addition to the classic flavor, seasonal limited-edition flavors using Hokkaido ingredients such as pumpkin and salted caramel are also available. The slightly firm texture is designed to prevent it from melting easily even when eaten slowly.

Beni Haruka (roasted sweet potato)
Chilled roasted sweet potatoes, with their skins still on, are kneaded into the dough and then carefully strained through a sieve. Some customers even travel from far away just to try this.

Corn
Freshly picked corn is boiled in salt water and prepared the same day. It is characterized by the rich sweetness and aroma of the corn.

Rich matcha
This rich, concentrated version was created in response to requests for a stronger matcha flavor. A must-try for matcha lovers.

Roasted pumpkin
We use seasonal pumpkins that have been slowly roasted at a low temperature and then pureed. This brings out their natural sweetness and savory aroma.

Black sesame
A popular classic. The fragrant sesame flavor and the richness of the milk are a perfect match.

夏潮
A summer-only blue soft serve ice cream made with Miyako Island's snow salt and butterfly pea flower. It's refreshing both in appearance and taste.
